The other night on the Cooking Channel they had a special on "Cookies and Cocktails" featuring holiday sweets and drinks. After watching it I couldn't help but think I should do a blog post featuring my own favorite Hoiday cookies and cocktails. Afterall, these are my two favorite Holiday indulgences. One of my favorite memories of Christmases past was making cookies with my Mom around the Holidays when I was young. We had our classics that we would make every year, the pecan tassies, the melting moments, the spritz, the Russian tea cakes. Then we would also get cookbooks from the library and pick out a few new ones to try every year. Mom insisted that the cookies could be small so you could have a sampling of each when you enjoyed them. I still do Holiday baking every year, but now I make a few recipes and share them, since I can only eat so many cookies alone. I love being in the kitchen around the Holidays listening to Christmas music and baking! New traditions have been created and one includes me and my Mom making cocktails. We both enjoy well crafted festive drinks, sometimes even more than cookies! On Christmas this year I know I will make a pan of lasagna (one of our recently created traditions), we will have some good cocktails and enjoy the time together. I have included links to my cookies and cocktails below, you simply need to click on the photos to access them. I hope you all are having a lovely Holiday season so far! Cheers!

ReplyDeleteThe cocktails look great, as well! Did you have specific pairings?
Talk about making my tummy grumble, Amy! This is a beautiful post with lots of delectable goodies :-) Those almond cookies look rockin'. I want to make Russian tea cookies now.
ReplyDeleteYour gingerbread martini and red velvet cookies look phenomenal!
ReplyDeleteOh wow these look fantastic, I am bookmarking this post! So happy to see some vegan items in here too!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I like cocktails even better than cookies, luckily most of which are naturally vegan =)
Btw your friend Shannon S. gave me the link to your blog, we are in Compassionate Action for Animals together. Also, wondering if maybe you know my friend Zoe Nagell, she is big into running.
Cheers,
Kelly
This couldn't be more perfect. I'm hosting a party this weekend called Cookies and Cocktails. Now I have some fabulous ideas! With colder days and nights, I find myself wanting to be in the kitchen more and more. Thank you for giving me all of these recipes to try. I hope you are enjoying the bustle of the season. Much love from Austin.

This is the perfect holiday post! You've been helping me scout out holiday recipes for a friend's birthday. I am going to try to do a triple play. You have the red velvet and minty cookies so those are two for sure as Red & Green are the perfect fit. there is also a chocolate cookie you have as I will find it to add to the mix. It's quite the challenge for me to pull this off, but just like running, who are we not to give our best to try?! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI love all of these indulgences! Your cookies turned out beautifully, and I'd love to try the Ruby Slipper Martini!
